Q:What is the guest capacity for this venue?

A: The guest capacity varies by room, ranging from 32 to 190. It’s best to confirm directly with the venue once you have a rough guest count to see which room best suits your day.

Q: Does Ancaster Mill offer outdoor ceremonies?

A: Yes, Ancaster Mill offers outdoor ceremonies at the Streamside Chapel, which is set at the bottom of the hill beside the water and is surrounded by trees. They also have Miller’s Chapel located at the opposite end of the property as an indoor ceremony option.

Q:What are the catering options?

A: Catering is done in-house through Ancaster Mill, which makes the planning process much more streamlined. Their menus are seasonal and connected to Pearle Hospitality’s food-focused approach, so couples can expect an elevated dining experience without having to coordinate an outside caterer.

Q: What’s available nearby for overnight accommodations or getting ready spaces?

A: Ancaster Mill is located close to Hamilton, Burlington, and the surrounding Ancaster area, so there are plenty of options nearby for hotels, Airbnbs, and getting ready spaces. My personal favourite space for getting ready in the morning is The Barracks Inn, which is just down the street from the venue and offers a very similar cosy aesthetic.

FAQ's For Ancaster Mill

Ancaster Mill has a few different reception spaces available, which makes it a good fit for both intimate weddings and larger celebrations. Each room has its own feel, so the best option will depend on your guest count and the type of atmosphere you want.

The Falls Room: The biggest reception space that can seat up to 190 guests. Located directly next to the waterfall with large windows that give you views of the property. This is a great option if you want natural light, greenery, and a room that feels connected to the outdoors. There is also a small terrace with an outdoor fireplace for guests to spend time in the evening.

The Governor’s Room: A large reception space for up to 120 guests with a more classic banquet-style feel. This room is a good fit for couples with a bigger guest list who still want the charm of Ancaster Mill, but need more space for dinner, speeches, and dancing. Bonus: this room also has a cosy fireplace.

The 1812 Room & Terrace: A more intimate space that is rich with historic details, a stone fireplace, and access to a private terrace. Since it only seats up to 70 guests, it works well for smaller weddings that still want a full dinner-and-dancing experience.

The Solarium: The smallest reception option with a seating limit of 32, best suited for micro weddings or intimate dinners. It overlooks the water and has a cozy, tucked-away feeling.

Each space is unique in character and size to suit your tastes and amount of guests.

Available Reception Spaces at Ancaster Mill

Ancaster Mill has two optional ceremony spaces, which gives couples a bit of flexibility depending on the feel of their day.

The Streamside Chapel: This is the outdoor ceremony space, set beside the water and surrounded by greenery. It’s a great option if you want the ceremony to feel connected to the natural setting of the property without needing to bring in a lot of extra decor. The white garden chairs and the matching white arbour give that garden party feel for those warmer months.

The Miller’s Chapel: This is a grand indoor ceremony option, which is especially helpful for colder months, rainy days, or couples with a large guest count. The space is located at the top of the hill & is fitted with a cosy fireplace, large wooden beams and elegant chandeliers. There is also a balcony overlooking the chapel which is a beautiful perspective for photos during the ceremony.

Having both options on-site makes the day feel a lot easier for guests, vendors, and the timeline.

Ceremonies at Ancaster Mill

One of the benefits about getting married at Ancaster Mill is that the venue is stunning to photograph all year round. The property has an abundance of indoor and outdoor spaces that can still feel intentional, even when the weather is being very Ontario about things.

  • Spring: The greenery starts to come back, the waterfall feels fresh, and the whole property has a softer, garden-inspired feel. Literally every corner of the property will be lush and beautiful.

  • Summer: The perfect season for outdoor ceremonies, portraits around the grounds, and making the most of the natural light. Also a great time to grab a photo from the secret spot below the waterfall!

  • Fall: The surrounding trees and escarpment bring in warm colour, which adds a lot to the space without needing extra decor. The vines on the cottage building are the perfect colourful backdrop during this season!

  • Winter: The historic indoor spaces, fireplaces, stone details, and cozy reception rooms make the venue feel warm and intimate, even when it’s freezing outside. If you have a small guest count, I would seriously suggest still getting some photos done outside if it's snowy!

A Wedding Venue Perfect for Every Season

Located in Ancaster, Ontario, just outside Hamilton, this venue has everything you could possibly want or need for your wedding celebration. The property has a mix of natural scenery and historic details, including the waterfall, stone pathways, charming cottage buildings, and historically rich indoor spaces. It feels polished without being too formal, which makes it a great option for couples who want their wedding day to feel structured, yet relaxed. From a photography perspective, it gives you plenty of variety for photos without having to build extra travel time into the schedule.

About Ancaster Mill Weddings

  • Make room in your timeline to attend your cocktail hour. One thing that Ancaster Mill is known for is their food (I’ve never been disappointed). So if you can make it work in your timeline, go to your cocktail hour simply to eat some of those delicious appetizers. We all need time for a refuel & you will not regret it!

  • You likely won’t get much of a sunset so don’t plan for it. Unfortunately, with the way the venue is located, the sunset often gets lost behind the tree line. If your reception happens to be in the 1812 room, you may get a small pocket of time to head out to the parking lot for a few golden hour shots, but it is brief so act fast!

  • If you’re up for it, take a walk around the venue at night time with your photographer. The venue is completely lit up at night and has so many stunning spots for dark & moody photos.
